MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Restore Mobility • Reduce Pain • Improve Movement

Myofascial Release is one of the most effective techniques I use for addressing chronic pain, restricted movement, and long-standing tension patterns. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, joints, and organs, and when it becomes restricted, it can create pain and limit mobility throughout the body.

In my practice, Myofascial Release is not a “light touch” or generic approach. It is skilled, intentional work based on understanding how the body compensates, where restrictions are held, and how to safely release them so movement can improve and pain can resolve. Many of the people I work with come from Cornwall, West Point, and surrounding Hudson Valley communities looking for results-focused therapeutic care.

What Is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release is a hands-on technique that focuses on releasing restrictions in the fascia — a continuous web of connective tissue that plays a major role in posture, movement, and pain patterns.

When fascia becomes tight or adhered due to injury, repetitive stress, surgery, or prolonged postural strain, it can pull on muscles and joints, creating pain far from the original source. Myofascial Release works by applying sustained, targeted pressure to these restrictions, allowing the tissue to soften and return to a healthier state.

Conditions Commonly Treated with Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is especially effective for clients dealing with:

  • Chronic neck and shoulder pain

  • Low back pain and hip tightness

  • Postural imbalances

  • Restricted range of motion

  • Headaches and tension patterns

  • TMJ dysfunction

  • Sports and overuse injuries

  • Pain that hasn’t responded to traditional massage

This work is often ideal for people who feel “stuck” — those who have tried other approaches without lasting relief.

How My Myofascial Release Sessions Are Different

Myofascial Release at Hudson Valley Bodywork is not a routine massage session. Each appointment begins with assessing how your body moves, where restrictions are present, and how those restrictions are affecting your pain or function.

Sessions may include:

  • Sustained pressure rather than repetitive strokes

  • Slow, deliberate work tailored to your tolerance

  • Integration with neuromuscular therapy, deep tissue, or orthopedic techniques when appropriate

  • Education on posture, movement, and self-care

The goal is not temporary relaxation, but meaningful, lasting change in how your body feels and functions.

Who Benefits Most from Myofascial Release?

This service is well-suited for:

  • Clients with chronic or recurring pain

  • Athletes with movement restrictions

  • Desk workers with postural strain

  • Individuals recovering from injury or surgery

  • Anyone seeking improved mobility and body awareness

If you are unsure whether Myofascial Release is right for you, it can be incorporated into a therapeutic session based on your specific needs.
